"Tomorrow depends on today!" - Breast cancer prevention information campaign

The month of October is World Breast Cancer Awareness MonthOn this occasion, on the last day of October, the ladies of Inner Wheel Club Stara Zagora Beroe, together with AG-specialist Dr. Kalina Piperkova, handed out lots of pink candies and information brochures to women urging them to take care of themselves and get checked. The information brochures were distributed at the Third Polyclinic Medical Center, Stara Zagora Municipality and in GP offices, and Dr. Piperkova gave lots of useful advice to many ladies at the polyclinic.

"Women should examine their breasts themselves by palpation and if they find anything unusual, they should contact a specialist surgeon who will assess whether there is cause for concern or not. Young women should undergo a preventive ultrasound examination every 2 years. Women over the age of 40 should also have a mammogram. Both examinations are covered by the Health Insurance Fund and can only be done with a referral from a general practitioner. So those who miss the preventive examination have no room for excuses.” – said Dr. Piperkova.

The main goal of the campaign was to draw attention to how important early screening for breast cancer is, and that women should not neglect prevention for the purpose of early diagnosis.

During the campaign, the ladies from Inner Wheel met many women who had survived this insidious disease. Their stories and the fight they had led once again confirmed how important preventive examinations are, because they save lives!

Also participated in the campaign Dr. Diana Bushkalova, which is part of the Inner Wheel Club Stara Zagora Beroe. Dr. Bushkalova is committed to raising awareness among women about breast cancer prevention.

Specialized dental clinic Bushkalova is also committed to the initiative to raise awareness among its patients. Information brochures on breast cancer prevention can be found at the clinic reception.

"We know that the problem requires publicity and awareness from the entire society. We must not forget that there is nothing more valuable than health, so all women should add time for prevention to their priorities."– said Dr. Bushkalova.
