The lack of teeth, especially at a younger age, leads not only to disruption of the function of the masticatory apparatus, but also to unpleasant aesthetic flaws. From the deepest antiquity to the present day, humanity, in particular dental science, has sought to solve this problem in different ways.

Today, patients have a choice that, depending on their price, gives different quality in terms of strength and aesthetics of the respective construction: wrap-around crowns made of metal and various aesthetic inlays – plastic, glaciosite, ceramic. These are the so popular crowns and bridges - choice by the dentist according to indications for the specific case and choice by the patient in terms of quality and price depending on the possibilities and need.

More delicate are the restorations of partial unrestricted defects and complete absence of teeth. In these cases, they are made removable structures, the so-called prostheses. They can be made of plastic with hooks in the most common and popular version. Cast prostheses (model cast prostheses) with joints and locks are more modern and easier to adapt. From 01.09.2018 The health insurance fund takes over part of the activities to restore the masticatory apparatus of patients with completely edentulous upper and/or lower jaw. According to Art. 98, para. 2 of the National Framework Agreement, the financial aid for prosthetics will be granted to health insured persons between 65 and 69 years of age.

The cashier takes over BGN 200. from the cost of the dental prosthesis, and the rest of the cost of the dental work is paid additionally by the patient. Each patient is entitled to an upper and lower total prosthesis for a period of 4 years.
