What are the goals of orthodontic treatment?
Orthodontic treatment aims to prevent and correct misaligned teeth, distances between them or their crowding in the frontal section due to lack of sufficient space.
What orthodontic treatment techniques do we use?
- Preventive functional devices – they aim to eliminate harmful habits, such as mouth breathing, lip sucking, sticking the tongue between the teeth, by shaping the dental arches and guiding the eruption of the permanent teeth into the correct position.
- Fixed technique (braces) – the most universal system for orthodontic treatment, and the variety of braces is huge, depending on the deformity.
- Aesthetic braces – they are made of ceramic and sapphire and are glued to the outside of the teeth.
- Lingual braces – they are placed on the inside of the teeth and are completely invisible to others. They are usually metal.
- Metal braces – they are the classic orthodontic treatment. They are made of metal and are glued to the outside of the teeth. With this type of braces, both defects in the arrangement of the teeth and defects in the bite can be treated.
- Clear removable aligners – vacuum-made splints that are imperceptible, according to a previously prepared digital arrangement of your teeth and comfortable (without metal screws and hooks). They are transparent and thin and move the teeth step by step. The splints are removable and the patient can remove them while eating and brushing teeth.
What are the consequences of untimely treatment?
Untimely treatment leads to deterioration of oral hygiene, inflammation of the gums and the brace may also causes infections and other problems in the oral cavity, some of which are the appearance of caries, difficulty chewing food, tooth loss and jaw problems.
What are the benefits of orthodontic treatment?
Timely treatment leads to the elimination of discomfort, correcting the bite and improving oral hygiene.
