For another year Specialized dental clinic Bushkalova is part of the National Program for the Prevention of Oral Diseases in Children from 0 to 18 Years. The initiative is organized by Ministry of Health and includes free silanization of the first 4 permanent molars, which usually erupt when children reach 6 years of age.
The free silanization program for children continues until the end of November, so we advise every responsible parent to take advantage of it.
What is silanization?
Sealants are special dental materials that are placed on the depressions and deep pits (fissures) of the chewing surface of children's teeth. They form a protective layer that protects the teeth from the accumulation of plaque and the development of caries.
Why is silanization so important?
The canines, which erupt around the age of six, are essential for chewing function. That is why the care for them must be special and start from the earliest childhood. Silanization is extremely important, because at the time of germination, these teeth are often damaged due to:
– Permanent teeth break through with lower strength (mineralization) of their enamel. The minerals that make up the protective wall of the tooth are still 50% of the necessary amount needed for the strength of the tooth. It takes about 2 years for the enamel to reach its maximum hardness.
– The surfaces of children's molars are strongly furrowed with deep and narrow depressions, which are impossible to clean with a brush and toothpaste. They easily retain food plaque, which leads to the accumulation of dental plaque. As we well know, plaque is the number one cause of tooth decay.
– Children in preschool and first grade are subjected to a drastic change in their daily routine and greater fatigue. This often leads to a refusal to brush the teeth in the evening, which, combined with the lack of silanization, significantly increases the risk of developing caries.

Placing sealants is a completely painless process
Dear parents, you have nothing to worry about, as the silanization process is quick and painless. Here's how this procedure works:
- The tooth is gently cleaned with a special brush.
- Then pre-treatment is done for a few seconds with dental gel.
- The tooth is washed with water and dried.
- A thin layer of the sealant is placed in the pits and fissures.
- With the help of light from a dental lamp, the sealant hardens and forms a protective shield. This process only takes about 1 minute.
Placing sealants is the most successful prevention for protecting children's teeth from the development of caries.
