Under endodontic treatment of course treatment of the endodontic tooth – the dental pulp (nerve, blood and lymphatic vessel). In most dental diagnoses, the pulp is in a necrotic (dead) or inflamed state, and then it is necessary to carry out root (endodontic) treatment. It can be primary - the tooth is treated in such a way for the first time or secondary - re-treatment.
For correct root treatment of a tooth, it is also necessary to make Rö–photo, both before starting and after finishing treatment.
Endodontic treatment, in parallel with the established diagnosis, goes through the following stages:
* Shaping of a specific tooth according to root treatment methods and rules.
* Root canal treatment
For each tooth, the number of canals (the spaces where the dental pulp is located) is specific and varies in shape and number. Processing is done with specialized equipment - endomotor, apex locator and specific canal files.
* Placement of anti-inflammatory and/or disinfecting medication in the root canals for a certain period of time.
* Filling the already processed root canals with special inert materials and appointing a control Rö-photograph.
The filling should be: chemical (washing solutions, medications) and mechanically (endodontic files)
* Restoring the tooth with different methods and means depending on the amount of remaining hard dental tissues
Endodontic re-treatment is a significantly more difficult and time-consuming manipulation, in which the chance of success is lower compared to primary treatment. Usually, the price is slightly higher due to the use of more effort, time and materials. Whenever there is an opportunity to save a given tooth by carrying out re-treatment, we at "MEGADENT" we recommend it to our patients because the alternative is extraction and placement of a bridge or an implant, which cost significantly more and at the same time cannot replace the 100% functions of a natural tooth.
