Професионално избелване на зъби - какво трябва да знаем за него.

Teeth whitening - at home or at a professional?

One of the frequently applied procedures in dental offices all over the world is Teeth Whitening. This is a cosmetic procedure that can be carried out both in a dentist's office and at home, but only after consultation and guidance from a dentist.

The brilliant smile has been a symbol of beauty for centuries, so it is an aspiration for many people. Before the development of modern technologies, baking soda, lemon, salt and other natural remedies were used to achieve maximum whiteness.

Today, when there are high-tech and effective whitening methods, it is useful to know their advantages and disadvantages, as well as the pros and cons of alternative natural remedies. Our advice is not to risk damaging your teeth with unproven methods at home, but to trust the professionals.

Tooth staining is a natural process over the years, which is greatly accelerated by the active intake of coloring foods and drinks such as coffee, cola, wine and also smoking. In some cases, tooth discoloration may also be caused by medications.

It is important to note that each person has a different color and shade of the teeth, which is genetically determined and determined by the inside of the tooth - the so-called dentin. According to the natural color of the teeth, the possible effect of their whitening is determined.

What is teeth whitening itself?

Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure that aims to restore the original dazzling white color of your teeth, acting in depth on enamel stains and deposits. We in Megadent we work with the system of AXIS for office whitening – "PURE POWER" with 38% carbamide peroxide and the procedure takes 45 to 60 min.

1. One week before whitening, it is recommended that you have gone through
the procedure for professional teeth cleaning with GUIDED BIOFILM
THERAPY (GBT)
*It is important to know that bridges, crowns, veneers and fillings cannot be
bleached and must be replaced.

2. The color of your teeth is determined.

3. A dilator is placed. The gum is dried and a protective cream is applied
on the lips and gums.

4. The gingival protector is applied so that it covers 2 mm. from the gum and 1 mm from the tooth.
Polymerizes with a photopolymer lamp for 10 seconds;

5. The whitening gel is applied to the vestibular part of the tooth. Its viscous
consistency does not allow random leakage.

6. Aspirate, without rinsing.

7. The steps are repeated three more times for 15 min each.

8. The color will stabilize one week after bleaching.

Advantages of professional teeth whitening

Unlike at-home systems that involve low-dose carbamide peroxide whitening agents, professional teeth whitening is performed under carefully monitored, controlled, and safe conditions that allow the use of a relatively high concentration of whitening gel. The results are visible immediately.

A disadvantage of the home method of whitening is that constant control by a dentist cannot be carried out and complications are possible. By choosing professional teeth whitening, you provide yourself with a consultation and examination, during which it is established:

– what shade are your teeth
– what type is their coloring
– what can be expected as a result after whitening

Since each patient has a specific color of their teeth, the dentist offers an optimally suitable whitening method. This is impossible at home. Professional teeth whitening in a dental office is the surest way to get the desired White teeth, to communicate and smile freely.

Our advice is: Before proceeding with teeth whitening, ALWAYS seek the opinion of your dentist, he can best guide you to the right method for you and answer all your questions.
